Danke's Trading Journal

Starting a trading journal to sharpen some skills while I am in some longer swing plays for 2023. First day up $10!!! :pepecelebrate:

All thanks to @HankPym on these callouts:

  • I stayed in AAPL too long after the signal was made to cut on a losing play, I was able to recover and minimize my losses, but still could have avoided a 4% loss with only a 2% loss if I just “let it go”. (And honestly was lucky this didn’t turn into a +15% loss…)
  • That SPY play around 2:45pm EST was just too good to pass up as a lot of TF was in this one. I cut when we hit the middle BB but could have rode this all the way up to VWAP like @SuckyMayor had mentioned

All in all a great start to 2023 as I shook off some rust from taking a break last quarter.

Will be eyeing the FOMC play tomorrow. My trades will usually be an option or two at a time which limits my ability to average down, but I’m also limiting the amount of money I want to risk in a given day as I “get my groove back”.

Day 2… only played the FOMC, but came out green!

  • In hindsight, there were two good dips to get good entries on calls within the hour before FOMC, 1pm EST and 1:45pm EST (3 if you count right before the release around 1:58pm EST).
  • I ended up averaging in within the final 10 minutes when a few entries from @Shadowstars and @Labubs popped up, and could have done a better job but I was at the office today and couldn’t fully focus all my time watching SPY’s chart.

Another successful day, no particular plays in mind for tomorrow. I’ll likely look for the boarder trend and see if there are any callouts that catch my interest in the morning.

Meant to update Day 3 yesterday:

  • Overall another green day :pepecelebrate: However it could have gone way worse (on the second trade)
  • First trade was the SPY 382c 1dte which I got when it looked like a bottom/support was forming around 9:45am before the data. It was generally risky but I got out before the news
  • Second trade was the SPY 383c 1dte that was flashing signs of not working out and I got a little deer in the headlights on this, ended up holding through 25% losses up to 4% losses then as it dropped again I got out to not fully offset my gain from earlier in the morning
  • Last trade was pulling out my cost basis on some MULN lottos for 1/20
